New Delhi: Education plays a very important role in the life of any person. Education is a basic fundamental right of every person, but still many children in the world have to struggle a lot to get a basic education. A person who is not educated goes through a lot of struggles in his life. The development of any person depends on education. In view of the important role of education in the field of peace and development in society, the United Nations General Assembly declared 24 January as the International Day of Education 2022. Since then the year 24 January is celebrated as International Education Day every year.

This year’s theme for International Education Day
Every year International Education Day is celebrated with a theme. This year’s theme is ‘Changing Courses, Transforming Education’. The theme aims to understand the impact of the last two years on the way education is viewed globally and find new and innovative ways to make education accessible to all once again.

Objectives of International Day of Education
It is noteworthy that, the International Day of Education is celebrated in different ways in different parts of the country and the world. At the same time, many types of events are also organized on this occasion at the global level. The main themes of these events are Learning, Innovation and Financing. On the other hand, such global events are also organized at UNESCO Headquarters in New York. International Education Day focuses on the theme of providing quality education to every student. Along with this, the day also highlights the role of education for peace and development around the world.

The United Nations General Assembly announced in 2018
The United Nations General Assembly on December 3, 2018, decided to observe 24 January every year as the International Day of Education to promote the role of education for peace and development. After this decision, Nigeria and 58 other member states adopted the ‘International Day of Education’. Since then it has been celebrated every year with the aim of reaching free and basic education to every child.
