New Delhi: Meta-owned social media platform Facebook processed more than 1.75 crore content in India in the month of May. In its latest monthly report, the company has stated that it has taken action under 13 violation categories in India during the month of May.
The report said that the content that was taken against them fell under categories such as harassment, pressure, violence or graphic content, adult nudity, sexual activity, endangering children, dangerous organizations and individuals, and spam. “Taking action may mean removing any content from Facebook or Instagram, or covering up and adding warnings to images and videos that some may find disturbing,” the report said.
Instagram processed about 4.1 million posts in May
The monthly report on India said that between May 1 and May 31, 2022, Facebook has taken action against 1.75 crore content under various categories, while Instagram’s other platform, Instagram, has taken action against about 41 lakh content in 12 categories during the same period. Action was taken against content.
Publishing a compliance report every month is mandatory for large digital platforms
Under the new IT rules that came into effect in the month of May last year, large digital platforms with more than 50 lakh users are required to publish compliance reports every month detailing complaints received and actions are taken. It also contains information about content that has been removed or which has been stopped while being proactive.
Twitter suspends over 46,500 accounts
Twitter India’s Transparency Report June 2022 stated that between April 26, 2022 and May 25, 2022, it received over 1,500 complaints in the country. It said that more than 46,500 accounts were suspended for violating the guidelines. However, it said that this data pertains to global action, including material originating from India.
