New Delhi: The second batch of Covid-19 Medicine 2DG developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) will be released on Thursday. Dr. Reddy’s Lab will release it. In this consignment, 10,000 sachets of 2 DG drugs will be released. According to the information received, now this drug will also be available in the market. The first batch of the anti-Covid-19 drug 2-DG developed by the Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) was released on May 17 amid the ongoing conflict in the country with the second wave of Covid-19.
Releasing this along with Union Health Minister Harshvardhan, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that 2-DG drug is a milestone in the direction of self-reliance. The emergency use of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) drug on patients with moderate to severe symptoms of Covid-19 has been approved by the Comptroller General of Drugs of India (DGCI).
In his brief address on the occasion, Rajnath Singh said that this medicine has brought a ray of hope for the treatment of Covid-19 patients. “This is a unique example of the country’s scientific prowess,” he said.
This drug reduces oxygen dependence
The Ministry of Defense said in a statement on May 8 that clinical trials of 2-deoxy-D-glucose (2-DG) have shown that it helps reduce the oxygen dependence of hospitalized patients. At the same time, patients recover faster with this drug.
He said, “I have been told that patients are recovering two to two and a half days earlier than usual for the use of this drug. Ovid dependence of covid patients will be reduced by 40%. Being available in powder form will also make it easier for people. He will be able to drink it easily by dissolving it in water. “
The Defense Minister appealed to all the concerned institutions to work side by side and said that if all work together then the country will be victorious.
The drug has been approved at a time when India is in the grip of a second wave of the Covid-19 epidemic and has had a profound effect on the country’s health infrastructure.
This anti-covid-19 drug has been developed by DRDO’s leading laboratory, Nuclear Medicine and Allied Sciences Institute (INMAS) in association with Dr. Reddy’s Laboratory, Hyderabad.
This medicine will be available in powder form in a sachet which is to be mixed with water and given to the patients to drink.
