New Delhi: There is good news for the users of the instant messaging app WhatsApp. Now DigiLocker can also be accessed through WhatsApp. In fact, MyGov said on Monday that citizens will now be able to use DigiLocker services on the MyGov helpdesk through WhatsApp. The objective of this initiative is to ease people’s access to government services.
DigiLocker, a major initiative under the Digital India program, aims to give people access to authentic documents through their digital document wallet. The documents kept safe in the DigiLocker system are treated at par with the original physical documents.

According to a statement, “Citizens can now access DigiLocker services through MyGov helpdesk on WhatsApp… DigiLocker will be an important citizen service offered by MyGov on WhatsApp.”

These services include creating and authenticating DigiLocker accounts and downloading documents like PAN cards, driving licenses, and vehicle registration certificate. WhatsApp users across the country can access the chatbot by sending “Hello” or “Hi” or “Digilocker” to WhatsApp number +91 9013151515.
MyGov CEO Abhishek Singh said that the objective of this initiative is to make essential services accessible to citizens through the easily accessible platform WhatsApp. Commenting on this new initiative, Shivnath Thukral, Director (Public Policy), WhatsApp said that it is an important step towards empowering the country digitally.
