It is worth noting that, on Tuesday, the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu has now withdrawn the notification, in which all Tehsildars were given prompt orders to issue residence certificates to the people residing in Jammu for more than one year.

In fact, the Deputy Commissioner of Jammu issued an important order on Tuesday for all Tehsildars regarding the registration of new voters and in which it was said that persons residing in Jammu for more than a year should be eligible as voters. Verify the required details for registration. At the same time, it was also clearly stated in these guidelines that in addition to these documents, other certificates of residence will also be accepted in the registration of new voters. However, in such cases, the officer empowered by the Electoral Registration Officer will then have to do the necessary field verification.
Withdrawn order
It is also believed that this important decision has been withdrawn after heavy protests. In this regard, most of the political parties of the Union Territory were opposing it. In fact, parties like Congress, PDP, and National Conference were also strongly opposing this decision to create new voters. Then seeing the matter taking hold, the administration withdrew the order issued in this regard late last Wednesday night.
After this order issued by the DC of Jammu in this regard, the opposition parties of the state were united against it. Not only did he start making statements against this order, but it also led to widespread protests.
