Beijing: Shanghai, the financial capital of China, is also becoming the corona capital of the country (Covid cases in China). A makeshift hospital, last used during the 2003 SARS epidemic, has been reopened in Beijing on Sunday. A 4,000-bed hospital has been remodeled amid the ongoing Covid outbreak in the city. Along with this, social distancing and food in restaurants have been banned in Beijing.

In Beijing, on Sunday, large-scale testing was started for people in Chaoyang, the city’s most populous and Kovid-affected district. Here people are being tested four times a week.

Along with this, the Universal Studios theme park in Beijing has been closed. People have been told that for entry in public places, they will have to show negative test reports of Corona.

At the same time, in some areas in Shanghai, residents were allowed to move out when there were zero Covid cases. The Municipal Health Commission said on Sunday that 7,084 Kovid cases were found locally in the city on Saturday. 37 people have died.

Beijing Municipal Health Commission deputy director Li Ang said in a press conference on Saturday, so far about 4,000 beds in Beijing have been reserved for Covid infection. More places are being converted into makeshift hospitals on a large scale if needed.

The global supply chain may be affected
In China, coronavirus infection is very much spread in many big cities including Shanghai. Due to this, the factories are closed and the roads are deserted. Demand has fallen drastically due to the lockdown, raising the possibility of affecting the global supply chain. Due to strict restrictions, the recession in China increased significantly in the month of April. Factory output fell further and demand was lower than expected.

PMI is the first such official data for the month of April, which is showing the massive damage done to the economy due to the coronavirus epidemic and the government’s zero-covid policy. Factory activity has come down to the lowest level in more than two years. The official manufacturing PMI has come down to 47.4 from 49.5 in March. This information has been received from the data released by the National Bureau of Statistics on Saturday.
