New Delhi: In a shocking incident that has captured widespread attention, passengers aboard an Indigo Airlines flight from Delhi to Varanasi experienced severe discomfort due to a malfunctioning air conditioning system. The incident, which occurred on September 5, has gone viral on social media, showing passengers in distress and creating a significant uproar.
AC Failure Causes Panic
Flight 6E 2235 faced issues with its air conditioning system even before take-off. Passengers reported difficulty breathing due to the lack of proper ventilation, leading to a chaotic situation mid-flight. The extreme heat and lack of oxygen caused several passengers, including children and women, to faint. Upon landing, the affected passengers were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.
Indigo Airlines Responds
On Saturday, Indigo Airlines issued an apology for the incident. The airline clarified that the air conditioning system was operational but attributed the discomfort to sudden temperature fluctuations within the cabin. “We regret the inconvenience caused on flight 6E 2235 from Delhi to Varanasi on September 5, 2024,” the airline stated, emphasizing their commitment to passenger safety and comfort.
Recurring Issues with AC Systems
This is not the first time Indigo has faced such issues. In June 2024, a similar incident occurred on a Delhi-Bagdogra flight, where the air conditioning system failed for nearly an hour. Passengers, especially the elderly, experienced severe breathing difficulties, leading to widespread outrage. At that time, Indigo had also issued an apology, citing high ground temperatures as the cause of the malfunction.
