ISRO said in a tweet on Thursday, ‘The lander module has been successfully separated from the propulsion module. The lander module is ready to descend to a slightly lower orbit on deboosting planned for tomorrow.

In fact, after separation, the lander is expected to undergo a ‘deboost’ (slowing down process) to place it in an orbit where the perilune (closest point to the moon) is 30 km and the apolune (farthest point from the moon) is 30 km away. point) is 100 km. ISRO has said that a soft landing will be attempted on the south pole of the Moon on August 23 from this orbit.

Once it lands on the moon, the lander will take pictures of the Vikram Pragyan rover, which will deploy its instruments to study seismic activity on the lunar surface. Meanwhile, Russia’s moon mission Luna-25 is also about to land on the moon’s surface. Roscosmos will also land its lander on the South Pole of the Moon. Rover Pragyan will conduct experiments on the chemical composition of the Moon’s surface and search for water.

The rover will have a lifetime of one lunar day, which is equivalent to 14 days on Earth. Meanwhile, the propulsion module will continue to orbit the Moon and study Earth’s atmosphere. It will also collect information about other planets, which will help to find out whether life is possible on any planet other than Earth.

Earlier, ISRO yesterday successfully placed Chandrayaan-3 in a circular orbit of 153 km by 163 km around the Moon, completing all lunar-related procedures. This mission has brought a breakthrough in increasing cooperation with America in space. ISRO chairman S. Somnath said that India is also discussing with Japan to work together on the Moon mission.
