New Delhi: The central government has taken an important decision in view of the adequate availability of Face Mask and Personal Protection Kit (PPE Kit) in the country. The central government has removed the ban on the export of non-woven fabric used in PPE kits and masks. The Ministry of Industry has issued a notification informing about this decision. Explain that PPE kits and masks were considered as important weapons in the fight against the Covid-19 epidemic. India did not have sufficient quantities of masks and PPE kits in March. In view of this, export restrictions were imposed on the export of special fabrics used to make them.
Ban on 25-70 GSM nonwoven fabrics will still continue
The Central Government started production of PPE kits and masks overnight in the country. Sufficient masks and PPE kits are available in the country as per the requirement. In such a situation, the government has removed the ban on the export of special clothes used to make them. However, the ban on the export of 25-70 GSM nonwoven fabrics will still continue. Explain that in the middle of May, customs officials seized a large consignment of sanitizer, PPE kits, masks, and its raw materials at the freight terminal of Delhi Airport. They were being sent abroad illegally.

Customs officials had said that these products were shown as packing material of apparel, children’s clothing, cosmetics, and pouches to protect them from any suspicion of the department. According to officials, 2,480 kg of raw material was made of masks. Apart from this, 5.08 lakh masks, 57-liter sanitizers in 950 bottles, 952 PPE kits were also seized. Explain that the government has partially lifted the ban on the export of masks.
Why PPE kits and mask fabric are special
The fabric used in PPE kits is a special type of advanced protective fabric. For this, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare was instructed to follow strict technical requirements. Fluid should not cross in this cloth. At the same time, the possibility of its burst is also very less. In fact, if someone sneezes or coughs or a blood gets applied to a cloth, the fluid may get infected by the person wearing the kit or mask. Therefore, PPE kits and mask making fabrics are specially made.
