London: UK Home Secretary Suella Braverman, commenting on the trade deal between India and Britain, said that this could increase the number of migrants in the country and affect the set goals of Brexit. Interior Minister Suella Braverman said this during an interview with The Spectator magazine. Braverman’s remarks of Indian origin go against the promise of the government of UK PM Liz Truss, which made it clear that the new government of Britain will end the free trade agreement with India by its stipulated time frame.
According to The Spectator, Braverman was surprised by the decision that Liz Truss’s government wanted to pursue a Free Trade Agreement (FTA) with India and include immigration. The Home Secretary said, “I am deeply concerned about this policy of opening the UK border to Indians. Because I don’t think people voted for Brexit.” At the same time, when asked whether she would support such an agreement, in which the rules related to visas for students and entrepreneurs should be flexible, on this she said that I have some objections to this. If we look at the immigration situation in the UK, then all the people who spend more time here after their visa expires are Indians.

Braverman has also called on Britain to leave the European Convention on Human Rights in the meantime, while his government wants to stick to the convention. Braverman has already made it clear that she will work on limiting the millions of migrants in Britain, which previous Conservative Party governments could not do. According to data from the UK Home Ministry, in the year 2020, 20,706 Indians spent more time in the UK than on their visas. In the year 2020, out of 4 lakh 73 thousand 600 Indians whose visa was about to expire within 12 months, 4 lakh 52 thousand 894 people had left Britain. But 4.4 percent of these people overstayed.
