Asuncion (Paraguay): Former Brazilian football star Ronaldinho has now been released after being detained in a hotel for five months for entering Paraguay with a forged passport. Paraguay judge Gustavo Amarilla sentenced Ronaldinho and his brother Roberto de Assis Moreira to two years in prison and ordered their release. Both these brothers will also have to pay a fine of two lakh dollars.
Ronaldinho and his brother were arrested in March for entering the country with a forged passport from Paraguay. Both of them came to Paraguay for business activities. The legendary footballer was earlier held in Paraguay’s highly guarded prison but was later released from there and placed under house arrest in a luxurious hotel.
Both these brothers can now return to their country Brazil immediately. Ronaldinho, a member of Brazil’s 2002 champions team and former star of Barcelona, Milan, and Paris Saint Germain, celebrated his 40th birthday while under house arrest in Paraguay. He came to Paraguay at the invitation of a local institution.
