Brasilia: At least 29 people were killed in a landslide triggered by heavy rain on Saturday in Brazil’s northeastern state of Pernambuco. Officials gave this information. In another northeastern state of Alagos, two people died after being washed away in a river flood on Friday.

Civil defense officials said floods in Pernambuco have forced more than 1,000 people to leave their homes. The executive secretary of the Civil Protection Agency in Pernambuco, Lieutenant Colonel Leonardo Rodrigues, shared a video on Instagram saying that about 32,000 families live in areas prone to landslides or floods in the state.
