New Delhi: India has given another blow to China in the ongoing dispute between India and China. The Indian government has banned the import of color televisions. The country’s government has taken this step to promote local television manufacturing and cut shipments from China. The decision has been announced by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT).
In the notification issued by DGFT tour, it has been told that there are some amendments in this banning policy. For example, if someone wants to import an item of restricted category, they must first get its license from DGFT. In the notification issued, it has also been said that the process of granting licenses will be done through a separate DGFT. Restrictions are imposed on all TVs from 14 inches to 41 inches, or more.
China is largest exporter of television in India. Chinese companies are going to suffer a lot due to this decision of the government. Apart from China, Vietnam, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Korea, Indonesia, Germany, and Thailand are also TV exporting countries to India.
