New Delhi: The ceiling on airfares after the first wave of Covid-19 will be removed from August 31. After about 27 months, this cap is removed from the airfare. With this, those traveling in the festive season are expected to get relief in respect of fares. The government had fixed both the upper and lower limits of rent. Due to this, it became a compulsion for the airlines to keep the fare within the prescribed range. However, now airlines will be able to increase or decrease the fare as per their wish.
In the festive season, many airlines offer offers in which the fare is reduced significantly. Companies are not able to do this in the event of a price fix, but now again the airlines will be able to give cheap tickets to woo the customers. In order, the Ministry of Civil Aviation said that in view of the review of the current situation of domestic flights and the increasing demand for air travel among passengers, it has been decided to remove the fare band from 31 August 2022.
What will be the effect on you?
From August 31, airlines will be able to fix the fares of domestic flights as per their wish. This thing can be reversed in any direction in favor of the passengers. If airlines try to woo passengers by giving discounts or offers during the festive season, then obviously they will get tickets at cheap prices. However, airlines can also increase the fares further because there is no restriction on its upper limit.
When was the limit imposed?
In May 2020, the government imposed an upper and lower limits on the fares of domestic flights. This was done at the time of the resumption of air travel after the first lockdown. The government had allowed the operation of aircraft with 100 percent passenger capacity in October last year, but this cap was not removed. Explain that this cap was imposed to protect the interests of small airlines and passengers.
