After receiving donations from three Indian-Americans, the American University set up a bench for Jain studies

Washington: The University of California has set up a bench of Jain studies at the university after receiving 1 million in donations from three Indian-American couples. Undergraduate programs on Jainism will be developed and taught at Bhagwan Vimalnath Endowed Chair in Jain Studies University of California, Santa Barbara.

It was informed on behalf of the university that the principles of non-violence, non-acquisition and pluralism of Jainism will be studied here and their implementation in modern society will be taken into consideration.

According to the statement, Dr. Meera and Dr. Jaswant Modi donated through Vardhman Charitable Foundation. Rita and Dr. Narendra Parsan donated through Narendra & Rita Parsan Family Trust and Raksha and Harshad Shah donated through Shah Family Foundation.

The three couples said in a joint statement, “The most effective way to help mankind and life in all its forms and to combat climate change is to promote the principle of non-violence and show respect for people of all faiths.” Supporting and setting up a bench for Jain studies is the best way to achieve this goal. ”
