New Delhi: TRAI i.e. Telecommunication Regulatory Authority has taken a big decision. Telemarketing companies are going to get a big blow with this decision of TRAI. According to a report, TRAI will now take action against promotional messages and calls sent to mobile users without their consent. TRAI has made it clear to telecom companies that they should not use unregistered numbers for promotion. Now TRAI has taken strict action in this matter. What you may not know is that telemarketing companies are given a special type of number that is slightly different from the normal number. Telecoms give special numbers for promotional calls so that mobile users can understand the difference between normal calls and promotional calls. But many companies ignore these rules and call mobile users from normal 10-digit numbers.
Strict action on using a common number
TRAI has now started working against those companies that harass mobile users by making forced calls or messages. TRAI has issued an order asking telemarketers to stop using 10-digit common numbers for promotional calls or messages within 30 days. Failure to do so and using a common number for promotional calls will attract strict action.
Numbers will be locked in 30 days
TRAI has issued notices to all telecom companies directing them to block unregistered numbers being used for promotional calls within 30 days. If you are using a normal number for promotion then stop doing so immediately otherwise action can be taken against you. This can block your mobile number. Those who are working in such promotional companies are also advised to use the registered mobile number of the company.
