Sitapur (UP): Bajrang Muni has filed a complaint against him by the police for allegedly making hate speeches and “rape threats” against a community in the Sitapur district of Uttar Pradesh. A few hours after the FIR was registered, he apologized. In a video going viral on social media, Muni can be heard apologizing to the women for his derogatory remarks.

In the video, he says, “My statement has been misrepresented. I apologize unconditionally for this.” Significantly, a video of Bajrang Muni, dressed in saffron robes, allegedly making hate speeches and “rape threats” against a community surfaced on social media on Thursday. The video of the apology was released on Friday evening, hours after the police filed an FIR against him.

An FIR under various sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) was registered on Friday against Bajrang Muni Das of Maharishi Sri Laxman Das Udasi Ashram of Khairabad, Sitapur for his derogatory remarks and hate speech, police said. The two-minute video containing the hate speech is said to have been recorded on April 2, when a man identified as Bajrang Muni Das took out a procession on the occasion of Navratri and Hindu New Year.

In the above video, Bajrang Muni Das can be heard saying that if a Hindu girl is molested by a person of a particular community, he will rape the women of that community. It is alleged that when the procession reached a mosque, the said person started giving hate speech on loudspeakers. The video was heavily criticized on social media. Sitapur Additional Superintendent of Police Rajiv Dixit told ‘PTI-Bhasha’, “An FIR has been registered against Mahant Bajrang Muni Das for the hate speech given in Khairabad. The police will initiate necessary action after collecting and examining the evidence.”
