According to the decision of the Maharashtra government, wearing a mask will not be mandatory, but wearing it will be voluntary. Whereas there is no longer any limit on attendance in educational institutions including hotels, parks, gyms, cinemas. There will also be no limit on attendance in the state for weddings or family functions, functions including funerals.

Tope said, “From Gudi Padwa (Marathi New Year which will be on April 2 this time) all restrictions related to COVID-19 imposed under the Epidemic Act and the Disaster Management Act will be lifted.” He said that it will not be necessary to apply masks from April 2. In a separate statement, Chief Minister Thackeray cautioned that even as restrictions are going to be lifted, it is advisable to maintain distance from each other, wear masks and get anti-coronavirus vaccines.

Tope told reporters that the US, UK, and many countries in Europe have withdrawn the rule related to wearing masks, so the wearing of masks has been made voluntary in Maharashtra. When asked whether the state government was taking a risk by removing the mask, the health minister said, “The chief minister and others (cabinet colleagues) have consulted the state task force and health department on COVID-19 before taking this decision. consulted.”

Significantly, on Wednesday, Tope had said that in view of the increase in cases of coronavirus in many countries, one should not take the risk of scrapping the rule of wearing masks in Maharashtra.
