Facebook took action on 3.33 crore content between June 16 and July 31

New Delhi: Facebook has taken “action” on more than 33.3 million content across 10 categories of violations in India between June 16 and July 31. The social media platform gave this information in its compliance report on Tuesday. Facebook’s photo-sharing platform, Instagram, took action against 2.8 million content across nine categories during the same period.

The company said it received complaints from 1,504 users on Facebook and 265 on Instagram through its Indian complaints system between June 16 and July 31 and has acted on all of them. A Facebook spokesperson said that over the years, the company has continuously invested in the technology, people, and processes to keep users safe online and enable them to express their views freely on its platform.

In a statement, the spokesperson said, “We use artificial intelligence, complaints from our community, and reviews conducted by our team to identify and review content that violates our policies. We have published our 2nd Monthly Compliance Report for a period of 46 days from 16th June to 31st July, complying with the Information Technology (IT) norms.”

He said that the report details the content that is being removed continuously using automated tools and the complaints of users and the action taken on them.
