The romantic comedy film ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’, starring Kartik Aaryan and Ananya Panday, is one of the most anticipated releases of the year. The film’s trailer generated significant buzz on social media upon its release, amassing over 25 million views across platforms within 48 hours. Now, ahead of its Christmas release on December 25, advance bookings have begun across major theater chains including PVR-Inox, Cinepolis, and regional multiplexes. However, initial figures suggest that the film’s pre-ticket sales haven’t yet picked up the expected pace, reflecting audience caution amid multiple entertainment options.

According to Sacnilk’s comprehensive report, approximately 14,669 tickets have been sold so far in the 2D format for the film’s first day of booking. These tickets have generated a net collection of approximately ₹61.4 lakh. Including blocked seats reserved for various promotional activities and corporate bookings, the total pre-ticket sales have reached ₹96.57 lakh. These figures indicate that audiences are currently showing measured interest, but trade analysts note that Christmas releases typically see a surge in bookings 48-72 hours before the release date.

State-Wise Advance Booking Breakdown

Looking at the state-wise advance booking collection, Maharashtra leads the list, contributing nearly 41% of the total revenue. The film has collected approximately ₹25.27 lakh net from this state, which increases to approximately ₹36.42 lakh including blocked seats. Mumbai, Pune, and Nagpur are the top-performing cities within Maharashtra, with premium formats in Mumbai showing better occupancy than standard screens.

Delhi is in second place, with a net advance booking of ₹11.2 lakh, and a total collection of ₹20.32 lakh, including blocked seats. The National Capital Region (NCR) shows promising trends in Gurugram and Noida, where Kartik Aaryan has a strong youth following. Madhya Pradesh has also shown a good response, with net bookings of ₹10.66 lakh and total pre-sales of approximately ₹12.72 lakh, driven by strong bookings in Indore and Bhopal.

Other states showing decent traction include Gujarat (₹4.8 lakh net), Karnataka (₹3.2 lakh net), and Telangana (₹2.9 lakh net). The film has secured approximately 1,850 screens across India, with 60% allocated to Hindi-speaking markets and the remainder in dubbed versions for southern markets.

Holiday Period Advantage and Release Strategy Shift

Trade experts believe that while the film’s advance bookings may be slow at the moment, it could significantly benefit from the Christmas holidays. As the release date approaches, ticket sales are expected to pick up, especially among families and young audiences who make last-minute booking decisions. The extended weekend, with Christmas falling on Thursday and many offices closing for the New Year, provides a five-day window for strong box office collection.

Notably, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’ was initially scheduled for release on Valentine’s Day 2026, but the makers later decided to release it on Christmas. Industry insiders reveal that the shift was strategic, aiming to capitalize on the family audience segment and avoid clashing with Siddharth Anand’s action thriller ‘Dhurandhar’, which dominates the Valentine’s Day window. The Christmas period has historically been kind to romantic comedies, with films like ‘Dilwale’ and ‘Good Newwz’ posting strong numbers in previous years.

Star Cast and Box Office Competition

Directed by Sameer Vidwans, known for his sensitive handling of relationships in ‘Anandi Gopal’, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera Main Tera Tu Meri’ will also feature Neena Gupta, Jackie Shroff, Aruna Irani, and Tiku Talsania in important roles. The film’s music, composed by Pritam with lyrics by Amitabh Bhattacharya, has already created waves with its title track trending on Instagram Reels. The supporting cast adds credibility among family audiences, particularly in tier-2 cities where such ensemble casts perform well.

It will be interesting to see how this romantic comedy performs at the box office amidst big films like ‘Dhurandhar’ and ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’. While ‘Dhurandhar’ targets the action-loving youth demographic, and ‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ appeals to visual effects enthusiasts, ‘Tu Meri Main Tera’ is positioned as the only family-friendly romantic comedy in the Christmas window. Trade analyst Taran Adarsh predicts that if word-of-mouth is positive, the film could collect ₹8-10 crore on its opening day, with potential to grow during the holiday week.
