New Delhi: The world of beauty pageants and fashion has lost a shining star. Sherika De Armas, who represented Uruguay in the Miss World 2015 contest, passed away on October 13 after a two-year battle with cervical cancer. She was only 26 years old. She had been undergoing chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments, but her condition deteriorated rapidly in the last few weeks. Her death has shocked and saddened her family, friends, fans, and fellow models across the globe.
Sherika De Armas was born on July 7, 1997 in Montevideo, Uruguay. She had a passion for modeling since her childhood and participated in several local and national beauty contests. She won the title of Miss Uruguay World 2015 and represented her country in the Miss World 2015 contest held in China. Although she did not make it to the top 30 finalists, she was one of the youngest contestants at the age of 18. She impressed everyone with her grace, charm, and intelligence.
In an interview with NetUruguay in 2015, she said, “I always wanted to be a model, whether a beauty model, an advertising model or a catwalk model. I like everything related to fashion and I think that within a beauty pageant, any girl’s dream is to have the opportunity to participate in Miss World. I am very happy to be able to live this experience full of challenges.”
Sherika De Armas was not only a beauty queen, but also a successful entrepreneur and a social activist. She launched her own makeup line and sold products related to hair and personal care under the brand name Shey De Armas Studio. She also devoted her time and resources to support the Perez Scremini Foundation, which treats children with cancer. She was an inspiration to many young women who wanted to pursue their dreams and make a difference in the world.
Sherika De Armas was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2021 and has been fighting the disease bravely ever since. She shared her journey and struggles with her followers on social media and received love and support from them. She never gave up hope and always maintained a positive attitude. Her brother, Mayk’ De Armas, announced her death on social media with a heartfelt message. He wrote, “Fly high, little sister. Always and forever. You are the most beautiful woman I have ever met in my life.”

Miss Universe Uruguay 2022 Carla Romero said that Sherika was “too evolved for this world” and “one of the most beautiful women I have ever met in my life”.
