Beirut: Saudi Arabia’s leading women’s rights activist Loujain al-Hathloul, who has been in prison for nearly two years, has started a hunger strike inside the prison. Hathlaul’s family has said that Lujain went on strike to change the conditions of his detention.

Hathlaul is constantly demanding the administration to change the conditions of her detention. Luzan’s sister, Lena, told Reuters news agency that Luzan, who is being held in Riyadh’s Al-Hair prison, had sought permission to visit his family regularly.

Lena further said that prison authorities did not allow Lujain to visit his family for four months, then in August this year he went on a six-day hunger strike. Let it be known that Luzan has been in the custody of Saudi Arabia since 2018.

This led to Luzan’s arrest
Let it be known that Luzan has been accused of many things. The most prominent allegations include communicating with 15 to 20 foreign journalists in Saudi Arabia, attempting to apply for a job at the United Nations and participating in digital privacy training.

The case of Luzan’s arrest has now become headlines all over the world. The world’s attention has once again turned to Saudi Arabia, as journalist Jamal Khashoggi was assassinated at the Istanbul embassy in 2018, and the case has now provoked the wrath of European powers and the US Congress.

Saudi authorities have arrested more than a dozen women’s rights activists, including Luzan. Luzan’s sister Lena has told him that he has limited meeting with the family. She met her sister on March 23 this year, then spoke on the phone on April 19 and then last met on August 31.

Last Monday, Luzan was allowed to see his parents. He then explained how the prison administration abused him. Lujan said that they will go on a hunger strike from tomorrow evening against this move of the prison administration. She will go on a hunger strike until she is allowed to meet her relatives again.
