Patna: The liquor ban, implemented in the year 2016, is the dream project of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. Even though the opposition has raised many questions from time to time regarding this law, the reality is that 99 percent of the female population and 92 percent of the male population of the state are in favor of prohibition. The matter is not even here. Since the implementation of the Bihar Prohibition and Excise Act 2016, till now 1.82 crores i.e. about 96 percent of people have stopped drinking alcohol.
This survey has been conducted by the Alcohol Prohibition Products and Registration Department to assess the impact of prohibition on the common people. The survey has been done jointly by Bihar Rural Livelihood Promotion Society ie Jeevika, Chanakya Law University, and Panchayati Raj Department. Commissioner of Prohibition Department B. Kartikeya Dhanji, SP Singh, Dean of Chanakya Law University, and Rahul Kumar, Executive Director of Jeevika Group jointly released this survey report.
1.15 lakh people did the survey, 10.22 lakh people were asked questions
Rahul Kumar told that the survey was done in most of the villages of 38 districts and 534 blocks of Bihar. 1.15 lakh people of the Jeevika group were engaged in the survey work. Before this, 10,000 women were given special training and they asked questions from more than 10.22 lakh people on the basis of a set of questions prepared by the Prohibition Products Department. All the answers were entered on an app made for this purpose. The survey report was analyzed by Chanakya Law University, in which it was revealed in the answers received from the questions asked the people that before 2016, about 1.82 crore people have given up the consumption of alcohol.
The Bihar government has got this third survey done regarding the liquor ban
Let us tell you that two surveys have been done so far to know what is the effect of the liquor ban on the general public in Bihar. In 2017, the survey was done by Adri and Jagjivan Ram Research Institute. This type of survey was conducted in 2022 as well. But, then a sample survey was done on only four thousand people. Now the Bihar government has got the survey done for the third time.
