Colombo: Sri Lanka’s main fish market was closed on Thursday and curfew was imposed in many areas in the wake of the spread of Corona Virus infection. The government has imposed curfews in parts of Colombo and in areas outside the capital.
In fact, new cases of corona virus infection were reported this month in at least six villages in the western province. Colombo also falls in the western province. Health officials have temporarily shut down the country’s main fish market after 49 traders were confirmed to be infected with the corona virus. Hundreds of other traders at a market on the outskirts of Colombo have also been confirmed to be infected with the corona virus.
As of Thursday, 2,510 cases in the country have been linked to a textile factory and authorities have identified it as the first community outbreak in the last two months. Schools and main government offices are closed, gatherings are restricted and public transport is closed. A total of 5,811 cases of infection have been reported in Sri Lanka since March, while 13 people have died.
