Sana: Yemen officials and tribal leaders said on Saturday that 23 people had died in clashes between government security forces and Houthi rebels in the last three days in Marib province (Hodeida, Marib) and Hodeida. The war in Yemen began in 2014 when Iran-backed Houthi rebels captured the capital and the country’s northern terrain.
Later, the Saudi Arabian-led coalition force began a military campaign to establish the government of President Abed Rabbo Mansour Hadi. Officials said that more than 23 people died and many were injured in the recent clash in the oil-rich Marib province. The Iran-backed rebel group wants to occupy the area. The tribal leaders said that the Huti rebels have deployed additional fighters to fight government forces in Marib but have found no success.
According to tribal leaders, the Saudi-led force has targeted the Houthi fighters. Yemen officials said a fierce fight broke out in Duraiyimi in Bandargah town of Hodeida on Wednesday. 70 percent of Yemen’s commercial activities take place through the port of Hodeida. From here relief material is also transported to Yemen. The war in Yemen has created a serious humanitarian crisis. Millions of people are deprived of food and medical supplies. More than 1,12,000 people have died, including fighters and civilians.
