New Delhi: The new variant Omicron, a new variant of the coronavirus found in South Africa, has raised concerns around the world. This virus has also knocked in India. In such a situation, the governments of all the states have become alert. So far, cases of Omicron have been reported in the country in Karnataka, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Rajasthan, and the capital Delhi. After which contact tracing has been increased. Passengers coming from other countries including at-risk countries are being monitored and their RT-PCR test is being done. So far 21 have been found in the country. Out of which 17 cases have been reported on 5 December 2021.
Omicron confirmed among 9 people in Rajasthan
Omicron has been confirmed among nine people in the capital Jaipur. Four of these people from the same family had gone to Dubai from South Africa on November 25. After this, these people came from Dubai to Mumbai and from there to Jaipur. The family consists of two children including parents. All of them were corona tested which came positive. At the same time, the report of five people who came in contact with him has also come positive. After which all these samples were sent for genome sequencing, where it was found that these people were infected with Omicron. All of them are recruited in Rajasthan University of Health Sciences (RUHS).
Eight cases found so far in Maharashtra
So far eight cases have been reported in Maharashtra. Seven new cases of Omicron have been reported on Sunday. According to the Health Department, a 44-year-old woman had come from Nigeria in Pimpri-Chinchwad. At the same time, his two daughters, a brother, and his two daughters who came in contact with him, i.e. a total of six people were found infected with Omicron in Pimpri-Chinchwad. Three of these people are under the age of 18 and have not received the vaccine. Of the six, three are from Nigeria, while the other three are close aides. At the same time, according to a report by the National Chemical Laboratory, a 47-year-old man from Pune has been found infected with the new variant. All these have been quarantined.
Two Omicron cases in Karnataka
The first and second cases in the country were reported in Bengaluru, Karnataka. One of them is a 66-year-old South African national, who has gone back. At the same time, the second person is a 46-year-old doctor. He has no travel history. Out of the primary and secondary contacts of the doctor, 5 people have tested positive for COVID-19. After which 6 people have been isolated and admitted to the hospital. None have severe symptoms. These people are complete vaccines.
One Omicron case each found in Gujarat and Delhi
A case of Omicron has also been found in Gujarat. On November 28, a person came to Jamnagar from Zimbabwe, and on November 30, he was tested for corona, which he turned out to be positive. After this, his samples were sent to the Pune lab for genome sequence tests. Where it was learned that this person was infected with Omicron. 10 people have come in contact with this person and all have been quarantined. The infected have received both doses of the corona vaccine.
On the other hand, Omicron has also taken entry in Delhi. A 37-year-old male who came to Delhi from Tanzania a few days ago has been found infected with Omicron and this is the first case related to this new variant of the coronavirus in the national capital. The patient is presently undergoing treatment at Lok Nayak Hospital and has mild symptoms of the disease. The patient is Indian. The places he has traveled in the last few days are being traced and information related to the people who came in contact with him is also being collected.
What are the symptoms of Omicron?
Let us tell you that according to the initial data collected so far about Omicron, patients infected with the Omicron variant have problems like extreme fatigue, sore throat, muscle pain. The symptoms of this variant are slightly different from the delta variant. The great thing is that there has been no change in the ability of the person infected with Omicron to taste and smell.
