London: The Omicron variant of Coronavirus cases in Britain has spread to about 92 countries. There are patients of this variant in most of the countries of Europe. In the UK, more than 12000 cases of the new variant of the coronavirus Omicron have been reported in a day, which is the highest number of daily cases of this variant so far. Omicron has killed 12 people in the UK. 104 people are hospitalized. Meanwhile, strictness in European countries and the Netherlands have implemented lockdown.
Britain’s Deputy Prime Minister Dominic Robb told Times Radio on Monday that the first cause of death from Omicron was reported in this country. So far 12 people have died due to this new variant. In view of 12,133 cases of Omicron variants in the country in a day, the British cabinet on Monday considered options for strict lockdown restrictions. So far 37,101 cases of Omicron have been confirmed in the UK.
Two weeks lockdown after Christmas
It is likely that a two-week lockdown will be imposed in Britain after Christmas. In the UK and European countries, restrictive measures are being taken just before Christmas to prevent festive crowds and prevent the spread of new variants.
Omicron is 5.4 times more dangerous than Delta
According to a study conducted in Britain, there is ‘no evidence that the Omicron variant of the coronavirus is less dangerous than the delta variant. This study also found that the new variant (Omicron) largely dodges immunity from a previous infection or both doses of the vaccine.
The study by researchers from Imperial College London in the UK estimated that the risk of re-infection with the Omicron variant is 5.4 times higher than with the Delta variant. He said this means that Omicron can reduce protection from previous infections by up to 19 percent.
